Mahayana Sojong Retreat

Blessed by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje and led by Venerable Dupsing Rinpoche, the Sojong retreat commenced today on a full moon day (15th day of the lunar month) in most auspicious circumstances.

At 5:30 am, His Holiness administered Refuge Vows to 6 new students to enable them to fully participate in the Sojong retreat and then transmitted the Sojong Vows to 129 students at the main monastery hall.

In the first day of the retreat, Rinpoche guided the students through the communal lunch sadhanas and also spend a good deal of the afternoon session orientating the freshly participating students to the practice of meditation.

His Holiness transmitted two ‘Lung’ (Oral Transmissions) to the gathered congregation in the evening session at the request of the students. The oral transmission was for the “Ngondro’ (the Preliminary Practices) and on the sadhana practice of Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara).
