Gyalwa Karmapa’s joint statement is one we endorse

We were delighted to receive the auspicious joint Statement Regarding the Reincarnation of His Holiness the 15th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, which is very precious for Tibetan Buddhism in general and especially for the Karma Kamtsang lineage.

Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje and Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje herein shared their intent to unitedly recognize His Holiness the 15th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche’s reincarnation. They further instructed every single follower of the Karma Kamtsang to recite, with deep regret for past non-virtuous actions, the Vajrasattva mantra a minimum of 100,000 times, as well as The Sutra in Three Sections (also known as the Thirty-Five Buddhas sutra) 1,000 times, as soon as possible.

Dependent arising by nature, negative karma is purified through reciting the mantra of Vajrasattva, who achieved accomplishments like compassion and the power to perfectly aid sentient beings. Similarly, aeons of bad karma may be cleansed by reciting the names of the thirty-five Buddhas repeatedly, or even merely once.

Thus yesterday, Karmapa International Buddhist Institute’s sangha, students, and staffs began by offering saffron rice and butter tea, followed by the Thirty-Five Buddhas Purification puja and aspirations. Then, preceded by Karma Kamtsang lineage prayers, the 1,000 recitations of the Thirty-Five Buddhas sutra started. The long-life prayer for His Holiness the 15th Kunzig Shamarpa concluded the session.

We pray for the long life of all Bodhisattvas, and that the practice of the Karma Kamtsang lineage may expand like the flow of a mighty river during monsoon. May we be blessed with the presence of His Holiness the 15th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche very soon!
