Birthday of H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa and Paranirvana of Jigdal Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche

Friday, May 6, 2016, marked the 33rd birthday of H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa. At K.I.B.I., the joyous event was celebrated in a spiritual manner. In the morning, the entire K.I.B.I. community and guests gathered to perform a traditional Sang puja. Afterwards, a group of monks made a 3-hour journey to the sacred Ganga River to release 50,000 fish for the long and healthy life of His Holiness.  In the afternoon, everyone returned to the temple to recite the Calling the Guru from Afar prayer, perform the Chenrezig Sadhana, and recite many aspiration prayers. The afternoon session was specifically dedicated to the swift rebirth of Jigdal Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche who recently passed into paranirvana. The special day came to a close with the lighting of 1,000 lamps. For the longevity of His Holiness.
