Rooted in wisdom and compassion, the Foundational Course at KIBI invites you to explore the essence of Buddhist learning and living.

Discover how to bring the Buddha’s teachings into daily life. This unique three-week Foundational Course offers an immersive study of Buddhist philosophy, practices, and meditation under the guidance of experienced Tibetan scholars.
Open to students from around the world, this course provides the opportunity to deepen your understanding, connect with a vibrant spiritual community, and explore the path of inner transformation. Each year, the programme welcomes both new participants and those returning for further studies.
Program
This course gently guides participants in cultivating a Buddhist mindset – learning to release attachment to samsaric life and turn the mind toward genuine liberation. It includes three core classes:
Lamrim – The Gradual Path to Enlightenment
Based on “The Jewel Ornament of Liberation” by Gampopa, these teachings illuminate the step-by-step journey toward awakening. The class is guided by Khenpo Tsering Samdrub. The teachings will be held in English. This class is also led by Ven. Khenpo Tsering Samdrup
Meditation
Exploring Mahamudra, Shamatha, and Vipashyana practices as presented in “Moonbeams of Mahamudra” by Takpo Tashi Namgyal. This class is also led by Khenpo Tsering Samdrub. The teachings will be held in English.
Buddhist Abhidharma
The Course text is “Gateway to Knowledge“ by Ju Mipham Rinpoché, taught by Ven. Khenpo Lobsang. The teachings will be held in Tibetan with English translation.
Each subject unfolds over a three-year cycle, with one three-week semester per year. Both newcomers and second-year students alike are warmly invited to join!
