Buddha Purnima 2014

Karmapa International Buddhist Institute celebrated Buddha Purnima in a grand scale yesterday. More than 1500 local people and some foreign devotees participated in the event.  H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa initiated the day’s program by granting the Sojong or Dikcha vows and a video presentation of Lord Buddha’s life story was shown afterwards. In the afternoon, Khenpo Mriti addressed the audience with a welcome speech and explained the importance of the day and the Buddha’s life. At 4 p.m. the sanghas conducted a tshog puja. Gyalwa Karmapa later led a Chenrezig meditation practice and gave blessings to all attendees. Apart from that, KIBS had organized a charity event distributing free water and ladu to everybody on the streets to mark Buddha Purnima. The KIBS volunteers had also distributed clothes to the slum dwellers affected by the recent fire in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
